HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04222014 - C.77RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the District Attorney, or designee, to execute an Employment Agreement and an accompanying Addendums with Santa Clara University School of Law in an amount not to exceed $4,000.00 for stipends for two (2) students participating in the District Attorney's office short term training program for the period May 20, 2013 through March 1, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: $4,000; 100% General Fund. The compensation of the two (2) law students is divided between the law school and the District Attorney's office, with the District Attorney's office contributing 40% of the amount, not to exceed $2,000 per student. Santa Clara University School of Law will contribute the other 60% to bring the total to $5,000 per student. Total costs to the District Attorney's office will not exceed $4,000. BACKGROUND: The District Attorney offered a work-study program for students having completed their second year of law school. Students gained important work experience and insight into the practice of criminal prosecution. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The District Attorney's office will not be able to process payments to the University for stipends paid to short term work study. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: No impact.
