APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the District Attorney, or designee, to execute an Employment Agreement and an
accompanying Addendums with Santa Clara University School of Law in an amount not to exceed $4,000.00 for
stipends for two (2) students participating in the District Attorney's office short term training program for the period
May 20, 2013 through March 1, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$4,000; 100% General Fund. The compensation of the two (2) law students is divided between the law school and the
District Attorney's office, with the District Attorney's office contributing 40% of the amount, not to exceed $2,000 per
student. Santa Clara University School of Law will contribute the other 60% to bring the total to $5,000 per student.
Total costs to the District Attorney's office will not exceed $4,000.
BACKGROUND:
The District Attorney offered a work-study program for students having completed their second year of law school.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
benefited from giving potential future employees an introduction to different areas of the office and providing
training in the area of criminal prosecution while providing support for its employees. Students gained important
work experience and insight into the practice of criminal prosecution.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The District Attorney's office will not be able to process payments to the University for stipends paid to short term
work study.
