APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract, including mutual
indemnification, with the 23rd District Agricultural Association to pay the County an amount not to exceed $15,000
for law enforcement services for the period July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$15,000; 100% Revenue. FY 2014/15 budgeted.
BACKGROUND:
The Office of the Sheriff will provide law enforcement services for special events such as gun and car shows
(exclusive of the County Fair) at the County Fairgrounds in Antioch. The contract includes mutual indemnification of
both Contra Costa County and the 23rd District Agriculture Association for the duration of the agreement. The Office
has provided law enforcement services to the 23rd District Agriculture Association for several years and has included
appropriate revenue estimates and appropriations in the 2014/15 budget related to this contract.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The Sheriff's Office will not have a contract in place to facilitate the provision of law enforcement services for events
conducted by the 23rd District Agricultural Association.
