ATTESTED: April 22, 2014 David Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: Chris Heck, Deputy cc: Cassandra Youngblood, Ressie Dayco C. 66 To:Board of Supervisors From:Kathy Gallagher, Employment & Human Services Director Date:April 22, 2014 Contra Costa County Subject:2013-14 Contra Costa Community College District Interagency Agreement / State Preschool, Amend #2 BACKGROUND: Contra Costa College District receives funds from the State of California Department of Education for State Preschool program services. The District, in turn, contracts with Contra Costa Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau to provide the services. The State routinely amends these contracts as funding sources are stabilized and school calendars are set. On February 4, 2014 the board approved an amendment #1 to this agreement to accept additional funding. This amendment is to adjust the days of operation by one day - from 251 to 250 days - with no change to the payment limit. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If not approved, County will not receive funding to operate this childcare program. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Community Services Bureau of the Employment & Human Services Department supports three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
