ADOPT Resolution No. 2014/103 to approve and authorize the Employment and Human Services Director, or
designee, to execute a contract with the California Department of Aging to pay County an amount not to exceed
$25,681 for Medicare Improvement for Patients and Provider Act services for the period February 14, 2014 through
September 29, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
County to receive $25,681 from California Department of Aging, Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers
Act (MI-1314-07) funding. 100% Federal. No County match.
BACKGROUND:
California Department of Aging, Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) funding will
provide outreach and enrollment assistance to individuals who may be eligible for Part D low income subsidies and
the Medicare Savings program, administered by Medi-Cal. These services will be performed by the Health Insurance
Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP).
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Without funding, County could not provide Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act services.
