HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04222014 - C.56RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21444 to add two (2) Paralegal positions (2Y7A) (represented) at salary plan and grade QV5 1169 ($3,306 - $4,019) in the Public Defender's Office. FISCAL IMPACT: This action has an annual cost of approximately $174,148, of which approximately $37,510 is related to employer pension costs. Sufficient funding is available within the AB109 Public Safety Realignment revenues. BACKGROUND: On September 10, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved the implementation of the Pre-Trial Services program as part of the 2011 Public Safety Realignment Act (Assembly Bill 109). In addition to the five (5) Deputy Probation Officers and one (1) Clerk-Experienced Level in the Probation Department, two (2) Paralegal positions are needed to staff the program from the Public Defender's Office. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The department will be unable to provide the needed paralegal services for the AB109 Pre-Trial Services Program.
