APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the District Attorney, or designee, to execute a contract with United Safety
Consultants, LLC in an amount not to exceed $115,000.00 to provide investigative services of suspected housing
fraud cases from the Contra Costa County Housing Authority for the period of April 9, 2014 through April 8, 2015.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost of this service is offset 100% by revenues from the Contra Costa County Housing Authority.
BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa County Housing Authority has a need for a full time investigator to investigate suspected cases of
housing fraud in the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) and public housing assistance programs. This investigator is
required to review applications, police reports and other documents; interview suspects and witnesses; serve search
and arrest warrants and subpoenas; conduct surveillance, write reports and testify in court as necessary. This service
is funded by the Housing Authority to prosecute housing fraud and attempt to reduce occurrences of housing fraud.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The District Attorney will not be able to execute the contract for investigation services.
