HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04012014 - C.33RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with the Embassy Suites Hotels Walnut Creek, including modified indemnification language, an amount not to exceed $6,300 for the Heritage Project, Options for Recovery Program Breaking Barriers Training event scheduled to be held April 10, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: $6,300: 7.5% County, 17.5% State, 75% Federal BACKGROUND: County receives an allocation from the California Department of Social Services for the Heritage Project, Options for Recovery Program. One of the services required for the funding is a staff cross-training. The cross training is for foster parents, community partners, alcohol and drug service providers, mental health providers and Department staff. The goals and objectives of the cross-training are to educate, increase collaboration between alcohol & drug treatment providers and social workers, decrease barriers that prevent agencies from working collaboratively, assist families and staff in creating practical solutions for change, and case conferencing and collaboration. Embassy Suites Hotel Walnut Creek has requested Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors approval in advance of the event. Provision for food and beverage service during the event is allowable under the Heritage Project funding guidelines and will be consistent with the County Administrative Bulletin No. 614, paragraph IV. B. "appropriated funds are not available to provide food and/or beverages to County employees or members of County committees". CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The Federal requirement for the Heritage Project specialized training would not be provided. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: None
