HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08051986 - 1.41 --(:�4 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA In the Matter of: ) Weights and Measures ) RESOLUTION NO. 86/.474 Commemoration Stamp. ) WHEREAS the year 1988 marks the 150th Anniversary of Uniformity in Weights and Measures Law in the United States; and WHEREAS weights and measures is used in every occupation of human endeavor; and WHEREAS in 1838, the Secretary of the Treasury delivered to the Governor of each state a complete copy of all weights and measures establishing the Uniformity in Weights and Measures Law and providing for measurement accuracy nationwide; and WHEREAS said Law has been instrumental in our Nation' s, State' s and County' s agricultural and industrial development; assured equity in the marketplace for consumer and merchant, and provided protection equally to buyer and seller; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY that the Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee is REQUESTED to recommend to the Postmaster General that a postage stamp be issued in 1988 commemorating 150 years of Uniformity in Weights and Measures Law in the United States of America. PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 5t1-+ day of August 1986. I hereby certify that the foregoing .is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
