FISCAL IMPACT: No Library Fund match. BACKGROUND: The Dollar General Literacy Foundation was established in 1993, and provides support and resources to schools and nonprofits that assist in literacy efforts and English language learning. If Pittsburg Library receives the funds from Dollar General, the library will provide reading materials for children who may have trouble getting to the library due lack of transportation and it will provide children with a convenient and fun way to participate in the Library’s Summer Reading Program, in order to retain essential reading skills throughout the summer.
