HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03112014 - C.69RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Unpaid Student Training Agreement #22-610-6 with Sonoma State University, an educational institution, to provide supervised field instruction in County’s Public Health Division to Contractor’s nursing students for the period from March 1, 2014 through June 30, 2016. FISCAL IMPACT: None BACKGROUND: The purpose of this agreement is to provide Contractor’s students with the opportunity to integrate academic knowledge with applied skills at progressively higher levels of performance and responsibility. Supervised fieldwork experience for students is considered to be an integral part of both educational and professional preparation. The Health Services Department can provide the requisite field education, while at the same time, benefitting from the students’ services to patients. The Division is requesting March 1, 2014 as the start date to avoid any interruptions in services. Approval of Unpaid Student Training Agreement #22-610-6 will allow Sonoma State University students to receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience in County’s Public Health Division, through June 30, 2016. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, the students will not receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience in County’s Public Health Division.
