Subject:Agreement #28-853 with the California Department of Public Health
BACKGROUND:
The CDPH is a sponsor of the California Epidemiology Investigation Services Fellowship Program. The County’s
Public Health, in collaboration with CDPH, recognizes the independent and mutual benefits of a consortium of public
health and applied epidemiology training, which includes the California Schools of Public Health and approved local
health department.
The Memorandum of Understanding defines the role of both parties by taking part in coordinating the training of the
California Epidemiologic Investigation Services fellow, who will provide direct epidemiologic services to the
County. While providing preceptorship, the fellow will receive supervised field training, including guidance and
evaluation in the field of epidemiology, through November 30, 2014. The County is agreeing to indemnify and hold
harmless the State for claims arising out of County’s performance under this Contract.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this Agreement is not approved, the County will not receive the support necessary to participate in the California
Epidemiologic Investigation Service Fellowship Program in Contra Costa County.
