HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03112014 - C.54RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Memorandum of Understanding Agreement #28-853 with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), for the County’s support to the Public Health California Epidemiologic Investigation Service Fellowship Program, for the period from October 1, 2013 through November 30, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: Approval of this agreement will allow Contra Costa County to support the California Epidemiologic Investigation Service Fellowship Program. There is no financial impact to this agreement. However, the County will hire the Fellow as an employee, and will incur approximately $44,605 in salary and benefit costs. These costs are funded from other State grants budgeted in the Public Health Divisions annual budget. The County’s Public Health, in collaboration with CDPH, recognizes the independent and mutual benefits of a consortium of public health and applied epidemiology training, which includes the California Schools of Public Health and approved local health department. The Memorandum of Understanding defines the role of both parties by taking part in coordinating the training of the California Epidemiologic Investigation Services fellow, who will provide direct epidemiologic services to the County. While providing preceptorship, the fellow will receive supervised field training, including guidance and evaluation in the field of epidemiology, through November 30, 2014. The County is agreeing to indemnify and hold harmless the State for claims arising out of County’s performance under this Contract. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this Agreement is not approved, the County will not receive the support necessary to participate in the California Epidemiologic Investigation Service Fellowship Program in Contra Costa County.
