BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) 2 diabetes, some cancers, high blood pressure, stroke, liver disease, respiratory problems and other conditions. Since 2010, CCHS has implemented a 100% Healthy Vending Policy to support the health of members of the public and staff who use the County’s Health Centers and Regional Medical Center. On November 12, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #72-024-1 with Quality Vending Systems, Inc. for the provision of healthy vending machine services at selected HSD locations, for the period from October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2015. In 2013, County awarded contracts to two vendors for the provision of health vending machine services, subsequently prior to execution of the Contract one awardee determined that they would not be able to perform in a timely matter. Due to late negotiations with the vendor regarding provision of services at additional locations, the Division is requesting to amend the Contract effective February 1, 2014. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #72-024-2 will modify the service plan to allow the Contractor to provide healthy vending machine services at additional HSD facilities through September 30, 2015. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this amendment is not approved, staff and members of the public will not have access to healthy vending machine services at additional locations in the County.
