Subject:Amendment #26-437-7 with Stericycle, Inc.
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Stericycle, Inc., to provide bio-hazardous waste management removal services for Contra Costa Regional Medical
Center and Contra Costa Health Center locations, for the period from April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2014.
Stericycle Inc. is now the sole source of bio-hazardous waste removal services in Northern California and has
provided service to the County for the past six (6) years under Contract.
At the time the Contract was negotiated, the payment limit was based on target levels of utilization. However, the
Division did not include enough funds to allow the Contractor to provide the services needed through the term of this
Contract.
Approval of Amendment Agreement #26-437-7 will allow the Contractor to provide additional bio-hazardous waste
removal management services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers sites and
Juvenile Hall site due to additional utilization, through March 31, 2014.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this Contract is not approved, bio-hazardous waste removal services would not be provided at Contra Costa
Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
Not applicable.
