HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03112014 - C.44RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-437-7 with Stericycle, Inc., a corporation, effective February 1, 2014, to amend Contract #26-437-5 (as amended by Amendment Agreement #26-437-6) to increase the total payment limit by $10,000 from $535,000 to a new total payment limit of $545,000, for additional bio-hazardous waste removal services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, with no change in the original term of April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: This contract is 100% funded in the Health Services Department Enterprise I Budget. No increase in rates. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) Stericycle, Inc., to provide bio-hazardous waste management removal services for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Center locations, for the period from April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2014. Stericycle Inc. is now the sole source of bio-hazardous waste removal services in Northern California and has provided service to the County for the past six (6) years under Contract. At the time the Contract was negotiated, the payment limit was based on target levels of utilization. However, the Division did not include enough funds to allow the Contractor to provide the services needed through the term of this Contract. Approval of Amendment Agreement #26-437-7 will allow the Contractor to provide additional bio-hazardous waste removal management services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers sites and Juvenile Hall site due to additional utilization, through March 31, 2014. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this Contract is not approved, bio-hazardous waste removal services would not be provided at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
