APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services Director, or designee, to execute contract
amendment #1 from California Department of Education Child Development Division, to revise facility improvement
plans for County Childcare sites, with no change to the payment limit of $198,214 or term July 1, 2012 through June
30, 2015.

BACKGROUND:
The Board approved acceptance of funding from California Department of Education for facility renovation and
repair on October 23, 2012. This amendment seeks to amend the facility repair plan to include additional Children's
Center sites: Fairgrounds (Antioch), George Miller (Concord), Balboa (Richmond), Lavonia Allen (Bay Point), Los
Arboles (Oakley).

If not approved, County will not receive funds to completed necessary facility repairs.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports three of Contra Costa
County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families
that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These
outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education,
nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
