HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03112014 - C.27RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services Department Director, or designee, to execute contract amendment #1 from California Department of Education, to increase the payment limit by $430,103 to a new payment limit of $2,931,994 in order to support childcare and development programs (CalWORKS Stage 2) with no change to the term July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: 100% State funding No County match State: C2AP-3009 / Amend 1 County: 29-213-20 BACKGROUND: The Board approved receipt of funds on June 25, 2013 from California Department of Education for the 2013/14 funding allocation for alternative payment / CalWORKS Stage 2 childcare services. Dept. of Educ. CalWORKS Stage 2 childcare revenue contract, amendment 1 BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) their participation in the CalWORKS program. This board order accepts additional funds from the State to operate the program. The State routinely amends these types of contracts throughout the program year. Note: This amendment was lost in the mail and consequently request for approval has been delayed. A second amendment for this contract is also appearing on this agenda. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If not approved, County will not have funds to operate CalWORKS Stage 2 childcare program. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
