APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Clerk-Recorder, or designee, to apply for and accept a Help America Vote
Act (HAVA) grant in the amount of $126,274 from the Secretary of State for costs incurred for participating in
activities necessary to deploy VoteCal, the statewide voter registration data base system, for the period January 21,
2014 through June 30, 2016.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no County match required for the grant funds.
BACKGROUND:
The County Clerk-Recorder has received a contract to allow reimbursement from Help America Vote Act (HAVA) of
County costs incurred for VoteCal activities. The maximum amount of the agreement is $126,273.58 for the
claimable activities, as outlined in the agreement, which include travel, salaries and other expenses.
Every contract with the State requires documentation of the authorization by the Board of Supervisors to enter into
the contract. The contract is not fully executed until the documentation is received by the Secretary of State. It is
requested that the Board of Supervisors authorize the County Clerk-Recorder, or designee, to sign the contract and
any future amendments as required by the State.
