APPOINT the following individual to the District 1 Seat of the Family & Children's Trust Committee with a term
expiring September, 30, 2015, as recommended by Supervisor Gioia:

There is no fiscal impact.
BACKGROUND:
Conduct a bi-annual needs assessment on family and children's services in the County; recommend the establishment of
program priorities to the Employment and Human Services Director and the Board of Supervisors; coordinate with the
Employment and Human Services Director monitoring of contracts which are funded by AB 1733, AB 2994 or the Ann Adler
Family & Children's Trust Fund; and recommend award of family and children's services contracts pursuant to AB 1733, AB 2994,
Ann Adler Family & Children's Trust Fund, Community-Based Family Resource Funds, and Childcare Affordability funds.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Ms. Cortez serves as an independent consultant for the California Office of Child Abuse Prevention and the U.S.
Department of Justice. She has served as a Community Development Director and Community Development Manger.
She also holds a Master's degree in Public Administration.
Supervisor Gioia recruits for his advisory body openings in a number of ways including through his website, blasts,
newsletters, and the traditional media; interviewing eligible candidates.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The seat will remain vacant.
