FISCAL IMPACT: None BACKGROUND: The Social Workers in Contra Costa County reach out, on a daily basis, to protect and care for children and families, the aged and the infirm. Mello, Deputy cc: C. 14 To:Board of Supervisors From:Kathy Gallagher, Employment & Human Services Director Date:March 11, 2014 Contra Costa County Subject:Adopt Resolution No. 2014/53 Proclaiming March 2014 as National Social Worker's Month WHEREAS, In Home Support Services BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) Social Workers provide case work intervention to recipients so that they can remain in the community versus being placed in a skilled nursing facility or hospitalization; WHEREAS, In Home Support Services Social Workers also provide support to the care providers of these recipients to ensure the recipient gets the best care and supervision at home; WHEREAS, Adult Protective Service Social Workers protect elderly and the disabled from emotional abuse, sexual abuse, financial exploitation, neglect and isolation. WHEREAS, Information & Assistance Social Workers provide information, referrals to resources, and support in problem solving to seniors age 60 and older, adults with disabilities and caregivers. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Contra Costa In-Home Supportive Services Social Workers will not receive recognition for a job well done.
