APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a
Purchase Order with Omnicell, Inc., in the amount not to exceed $400,600, for Omnicell Pharmacy Automated
Dispensing Systems (ADS) at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period
of five (5) years from delivery of equipment.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This lease is fully paid for from (a) Medicare & Medicaid Electronic Health Records (EHR) Incentive Program of the
American Recovery & Reinvestment Act and (b) the Delivery System Reform and Incentive Pool (DSRIP) funding.
BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Health Centers has been using Omnicell medication
dispensing cabinets for over 5 years. The current dispensing cabinets are nearing their end-of-life. Upgrade to
cabinets will extend the full value of the asset for another 5-plus years and bringing our cabinets up to date to meet
current and future needs. The lease includes upgrading 24 medication dispensing cabinets, 24 touch pads, 16
medication label printers,

software services, and interface support for the term of the lease. In addition, the upgraded cabinets contain many
new features including; compliance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
(JCAHO) safety goal on medication labeling through integrated patient specific medication label printers and syringe
labeling, and enhanced security features.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If not funded the current cabinets will reach their end of life and will no longer be supported by the vendor. This
could impact the CCRMC in providing patient care and the enhanced security of the medications.
