APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner or Mary Jane Robb, Sheriff's Chief of Management Services, or
designee to apply for and accept a grant from the California Department of Parks and Recreation Division of Boating
and Waterways, in an amount not to exceed $35,000 for the purchase of equipment in the Marine Patrol Unit for the
period January 15, 2014 through June 30, 2029.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No net County costs. $35,000 in new revenue; 100% State.
BACKGROUND:
The California Department of Parks and Recreation Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is prepared to award
an equipment grant to the Office of the Sheriff to increase the Sheriff's Marine Patrol capabilities. The grant funds
shall be used to purchase parts and labor to repower a vessel, one rigging tube kit, steering kit, hose kit, vessel view
kit, harness, miscellaneous clamps, grease oil, etc. The increased capabilities available through this grant will provide
the necessary equipment to maintain maritime patrol and response, and thus protect life and property on the
waterways within Contra Costa County. DBW recognizes the critical importance of the Marine Patrol boating safety
and enforcement mission within Contra Costa County. No matching fund requirement exists.
