FISCAL IMPACT: The additional cost associated with this action will be $4,250.01 annually with benefits. The cost of this action will be offset by the Contra Costa Health Plan member premiums. BACKGROUND: Contra Costa Health Plan Claims unit has both clerical and accounting staff. The role of supervising the staff has grown exponentially in the past five years with changes in health care claims and reimbursement regulations. The number of accounting staff in the unit has increased tremendously while the clerical staff numbers have only slightly increased. It is critical for the overall function of the claims unit that both supervisors in the unit can supervise accounting staff as well as clerical staff and fully understand both functions in the unit. CCHP needs to have both supervisors in the unit with background and training that is more technical including claims/accounting supervision.
