Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Unpaid
Student Training Agreement #26-675-1 with The Wright Institute, an educational institution, to provide field
instruction in the Health Services Department to Contractor’s Clinical Psychology Doctorate students for the period
from August 1, 2013 through July 31, 2016.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None
BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this agreement is to provide Contractor’s students with the opportunity to integrate academic
knowledge with applied skills at progressively higher levels of performance and responsibility. Supervised fieldwork
experience for students is considered to be an integral part of both the educational and professional preparation. The
Health Services Department can provide the requisite field education, while at the same time, taking advantage of the
students’ services to patients.
On September 14, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-675 with The Wright Institute

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
for the provision of supervised fieldwork instruction experience with Health Services, for the period from August 1,
2010 through July 31, 2013.
Approval of Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-675-1 will allow The Wright Institute students to receive
supervised fieldwork instruction experience at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health
Centers, through July 31, 2016.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, the students will not receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience at Contra
Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.
