Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Unpaid
Student Training Agreement #22-553-2 with Mount St. Mary’s College, an educational institution, to provide
supervised field instruction in the Health Services Department for Contractor’s physical therapist students for the
period from September 1, 2013 through August 31, 2016.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None
BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this agreement is to provide Contractor’s students with the opportunity to integrate academic
knowledge with applied skills at progressively higher levels of performance and responsibility. Supervised fieldwork
experience for students is considered to be an integral part of both educational and professional preparation. The
Health Services Department can provide the requisite field education, while at the same time, benefitting from the
students’ services to patients.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
will allow Mount St. Mary’s College students to receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience at Contra Costa
Health Services, through August 31, 2016, including mutual indemnification to hold harmless both parties for any
claims arising out of performance of this contract.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, the students will not receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience at Contra
Costa Health Services Department.
