APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with
Mt. Diablo Unified School District, effective August 1, 2013, for an amount not to exceed $10,000, to provide food
services to the childcare program at Crossroads High School for the period August 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No net County costs.
Mt. Diablo Unified School District has agreed to reimburse the County, up to the limits of the California Child and
Adult Food Program, for all food service expenses related to this contract. The program may provide up to 3,300
meals at $3.00/meal.
BACKGROUND:
The Board of Supervisors has approved similar agreements with community based agencies with which the
Department contracts to provide childcare services. In order to further support the partnership and to ensure the
success of food and nutrition goals within these programs, the Department provides the daily meal provision at
selected childcare sites. The meals are provided

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If not approved, County will be unable to provide food services to its childcare partner.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports three of Contra Costa
County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families
that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These
outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education,
nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
