HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12172013 - C.69RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-583-15 with Specialty Laboratories, Inc. (dba Quest Diagnostics Nichols Institute of Valencia), a corporation, effective October 1, 2013, to amend Contract #26-583-14, to increase the payment limit by $130,000, from $800,000 to a new payment limit of $930,000, with no change in the original term of January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013. FISCAL IMPACT: This amendment is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. As appropriate, patients and third party payors will be billed for services. (No rate increase) BACKGROUND: On April 9, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-583-14 with Specialty Laboratories, Inc. (dba Quest Diagnostics Nichols Institute of Valencia) BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC), for the period from January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013. At the time of negotiations, the payment limit was based on target levels of utilization. However, the utilization during the term of the agreement was higher than originally anticipated. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-583-15 will allow the Contractor to provide additional professional outside clinical laboratory services at CCRMC through December 31, 2013. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring professional outside clinical laboratory services will not have access to Contractor’s services which may result in a reduction in the overall level of services to the community.
