HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12172013 - C.57RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, on behalf of the Workforce Development Board, to execute a contract amendment with Edward Solomon to increase the contract amount by $10,000 from $96,000 to a new total contract amount of $106,000 for Enterprise Zone program services with no change in term from September 1, 2012 through December 31, 2013. FISCAL IMPACT: $106,000 100% City of Pittsburg funding. BACKGROUND: The Enterprise Zone (EZ) targets economically distressed areas throughout the State of California, providing special incentives designed to encourage business investment and promote the creation of new jobs. Overseen by the State Department of Housing and Community Development, the purpose of the EZ program is to stimulate development by providing tax incentives to businesses and facilitate the capacity of private sector market forces to revive the local economy. Mr. Solomon is responsible for assisting the Workforce Development Board to meet legal and contractual requirements relative to the successful operation of the Pittsburg/Bay Point EZ. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Additional funding will allow continued Enterprise Zone services, funding review, and required reporting. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
