BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Creative Writing, Dance, Film, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts.
Selected through a submission of an application and work sample that is reviewed by a panel of educators and

beyond perceived boundaries, by college-level arts faculty and professional artists. Held on the CalArts campus in
Valencia each summer, CSSSA has trained more than 13,500 young artists from all 58 counties in California, as well
as students from across the globe, during its 27-year history. The California State Summer School for the Arts, and
The California State Summer School Arts Foundation, have worked together to support and guide CSSSA since
1986, a model of public-private partnership success. CSSSA is an agency of the State of California and the CSSSA
Foundation is a nonprofit, organized to support the CSSSA.

Local under privileged students may loose the opportunity to attend the California Summer School for the Arts
program in 2014.
