HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12172013 - C.39RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Standard Agreement (Amendment) #29-764-22 (State #03MR003, A12) with the State of California, Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board, effective January 1, 2014, to amend Standard Agreement #29-764-9 (as amended by Amendment Agreements #29-764-10 through #29-764-21), to increase the amount paid to County by $250,000, from $2,951,764, to a new total payment of $3,201,764 and extend the term from December 31, 2013 through December 31, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: Approval of this Standard Agreement (Amendment) will result in an increase of $250,000 of State funding for the Major Risk Medical Insurance Program. No County match is required. BACKGROUND: This State program is designed to provide health insurance to Californians who are unable to obtain cover-age in the open market. On July 15, 2003, the Board of Supervisors approved Standard Agreement #29-764-9 (as amended by sub-sequent Amendment Agreements #29-764-10 through #29-764-21) with the State of California, Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board, for the period from July 1, 2003 through December 31, 2013, for Contra Costa Health Plan-Community Plans participation in the Major Risk Medical Insurance Program. Approval of Standard Amendment (Agreement) #29-764-22 will allow additional funds and extend ser-vices to Contra Costa Health Plan members and County recipients through December 31, 2014. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this Agreement is not approved Contra Costa Health Plan would lose additional funding and not be able to provide healthcare coverage for Contra Costa County residents participating in the Major Risk Medical Insurance Program.
