Bueren, Public Works Director/Chief Engineer Date:December 10, 2013 Contra Costa County Subject:APPROVE the Marsh Creek Wingwall Repair Project and CONSIDER related actions under California Environmental Quality Act, Clayton area. BACKGROUND: The purpose of the work is to repair two of the wingwalls on Marsh Creek Road Bridge 142 that retain fill under the road. The wingwall on the southeast side of the bridge has failed and fallen into the creek. The failed wingwall is a reinforced concrete wall that will be removed and replaced with a new wingwall. The wingwall on the northwest side of the bridge is leaning and will be repaired by securing it to the existing slope behind the wingwall with tie backs (long nails) into the slope. The project is planned for construction in 2014. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Delay in approving the project will result in a delay of design, construction, and repair of the wingwalls. Without repair of the wingwalls the road could be compromised. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable. ATTACHMENTS Wingwall Att
