California Reads is a statewide initiative of the California Council for the Humanities and the California Center for

discussions lead by veteran consultant and scholar, in Fall 2014. The Library plans to secure a visit from best-selling
novelist, Marine Corps veteran and Rhodes Scholar, Karl Marlantes. Marlantes, the anchor author for California
Reads, has also authored the following books: Matterhorn: A novel of the Vietnam War and What it is like to go to
war.
