HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12032013 - C.30RECOMMENDATION(S): APPOINT Kelvin Tang to the Member-at-Large Seat #4 on the Managed Care Commission as recommended by the Family and Human Services Committee. FISCAL IMPACT: No fiscal impact from the recommended action. BACKGROUND: The Managed Care Commission advises the Board of Supervisors regarding the health care concerns of Medi-Cal, Medicare, Commercial, and Medically Indigent persons served by the County. The Commission assures provider, consumer, and the community, as well as gender, ethnic, cultural, and geographically diverse populations provide input to deliberations and decision making. The Commission provides a forum for long-range planning and policy formulation and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, County Health Services Director and Chief Executive Officer of CCHP/Local Initiative; studies and makes recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer of CCHP on operational objectives, policies and procedures and recommends changes as well as revisions to service, product development, marketing, and data-gathering priorities. Regularly review the CCHP operational budget and amendments thereto. Review, analyze, and advise the Board of Supervisors, Health Services Director, and Chief Executive Officer of CCHP of the overall progress, constraining, or threatening needs and special problems of CCHP. Encourage public understanding of CCHP and provide support throughout the County for its development. On November 4, 2013 Health Services Department staff recommended to the Family and Human Services Committee of the Board of Supervisors the appointment of Kelvin Tang to the At-Large-Seat #4 on the Managed Care Commission. The Family and Human Services Committee reviewed and accepted the recommendation. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The seat on the commission will not be filled.
