(District V) FISCAL IMPACT: The General Fund will not receive $150 in revenue. BACKGROUND: Public Works received a request to waive the fee for the Salvation Army and Rodeo Christmas Coalition Holiday Assistance Program for this year's annual event scheduled for Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2, 2013. The Annual Holiday Assistance Program is organized and sponsored by the Salvation Army and Rodeo Christmas Coalition. It brings out members of the community from Rodeo and the surrounding region to the Rodeo Senior Center, which is managed by Contra Costa County Public Works Department. Event organizers expect over 700 families. The Holiday Assistance Program is the one of Rodeo’s largest community events. Last year, the Holiday Assistance Program drew approximately 700 families to downtown Rodeo and at least that many are expected this year. The Salvation Army and the Rodeo Christmas Coalition have reserved the Senior Center and would like to request the waiver of fees and deposits, since this event is part of the community and brings positive recognition to Rodeo. The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this application fee and deposit waiver are not approved, the Holiday Assistance Program will not be funded via the General Fund and another source of funds would be sought to offset costs for the facility rental.
