Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
#26-645-4 with David Safianoff, M.D., a self-employed individual, in an amount not to exceed $1,080,000, to
provide professional pulmonary services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers
(CCRMC), for the period from October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2016.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
For a number of years the County has contracted with Medical, Dental, and Mental Health Specialists to provide
specialized professional services that are not otherwise available in its Hospital and Health Centers.
On October 26, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-645-2 with David Safianoff, M.D. for the
provision of professional pulmonary services including, consultation, training,

Approval of Contract #26-645-4 will allow Contractor to continue providing professional pulmonary services
through September 30, 2016.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, patients requiring professional pulmonary services at CCRMC will not have access to
Contractor’s services, which may result in a reduction in the overall level of services to the community.
