HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 11052013 - C.34RECOMMENDATION(S):
ADOPT Resolution No. 21384 to add two (2) 40/40 Health Plan Authorization Representative positions
(VRTA)($3,138.41-$4,007.88) in the Health Services Department
FISCAL IMPACT:
The additional cost associated with this action will be $154,532.01 annually with benefits. The cost of this action will
be offset by subsidies from Covered California and Medi-Cal expansions in the CCHP Enterprise Fund II.
BACKGROUND:
Due to the increase in patients being referred to community provider specialty clinics, additional staff is needed in the
Utilization/Authorization Unit of the Contra Costa Health Plan. Referral reviews and authorizations associated with
these patients are performed by the Health Plan Authorization Representatives.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this action is not approved and without additional staff, the Contra Costa Health Plan will be out of compliance
with federal and state requirements by not being able to provide timely referral review or authorizations. Untimely
authorization processing and review can also jeopardize patient care within the Health Plan.
