HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 11052013 - C.31RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21378 to add two (2) Criminalist I (6DWB) (represented) positions at salary plan and grade VN5 1688 ($5,523 - $6,090) and cancel two (2) Fingerprint Examiner II (64VG) (represented) vacant positions #2860 and #6464 at salary plan and grade VN5 1578 ($4,953 - $6,021) in the Office of the Sheriff-Forensics Services Division. FISCAL IMPACT: Increased annual cost of $2,462.00, of which $600 is retirement costs. 100% General Fund BACKGROUND: Forensic standards will soon mandate any individual offering scientific opinions in court must be scientifically trained and minimally hold a Bachelor’s degree in science. The change from the Fingerprint Examiner job classification to the Criminalist job classification will ensure the Office of the Sheriff will meet these mandates. This will permit better operational flexibility across the various technical units within the Forensic Services Division. Filling the positions with Criminalists will help the lab provide better service to our public safety partners.
