Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
#26-893-15 with Robert J. Lindsay, M.D., a self-employed individual, in an amount not to exceed $1,050,000 to
provide professional anesthesiology services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health
Centers (CCRMC), for the period from October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2016.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate,
patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
For a number of years the County has contracted with Medical, Dental and Mental Health Specialists to provide
specialized professional services that are not otherwise available in its Hospital and Health Centers.
On September 28, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-893-13 (as amended by

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Amendment Agreement #26-893-14) with Robert J. Lindsay, M.D., to provide professional anesthesiology services
including consultation, training, medical procedures and on-call and coverage for the General and Obstetrics Units at
CCRMC, for the period October 1, 2010 through September 30, 2013.
Approval of Contract #26-893-15 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide anesthesiology services at
CCRMC, through September 30, 2016.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, patients requiring professional anesthesiology services will not have access to
Contractor’s services, which may result in a reduction in the overall level of services to the community.
