APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Animal Services Department Director, or designee, to accept funding in the
amount of $15,000 from the State of California Food and Agriculture Department's 2013 Municipal Spay-Neuter
Grant for the County’s Spay and Neuter Program. (100% State Funds)
FISCAL IMPACT:
No County match. All expenses associated with this grant will be paid for out of grant funds. This is an 2013 grant
which does not have a specified term to spend the awarded funds.
BACKGROUND:
The State of California Food and Agriculture Department offers an annual grant for municipal spay-neuter programs
based upon applications submitted. On August 14, 2013 the Animal Services Department was notified that its
competitive grant application submitted to the State of California Food and Agriculture Department for its 2013
Municipal Spay-Neuter Grant Fund was funded in the amount of $15,000. Grant funds will be used by the
Department to spay or neuter dogs and cats owned by individual members of the public.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to approve the recommended action will result in the loss of this grant.
