ATTESTED: October 15, 2013 David Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: Chris Heck, Deputy cc: Cassandra Youngblood, Jagjit Bhambra, Ressie Dayco C. 39 To:Board of Supervisors From:Kathy Gallagher, Employment & Human Services Director Date:October 15, 2013 Contra Costa County Subject:2013-14 Calif. Dept. of Educ. Alternative Payment Childcare services revenue contract / Amendment #1 BACKGROUND: On June 24, 2013 the Board approved receipt of funding from the California Department of Education for the 2013/14 allocation for the Alternative Payment childcare services program. The Alternative Payment childcare services program provides funding for program eligible families to receive services. Priority is given to families who interface with Child Protective Services; families with children at-risk of abuse and neglect; low-income families; and families with children who have special needs. The state routinely provides additional funding to the agreement as resources permit during the program year. This board order seeks to approve receipt of additional funding for this program. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If not approved, County will not receive funding to operate this childcare program. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
