HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10152013 - C.36RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE a revenue lease with Shelter, Inc. for a one-year term, commencing July 1, 2013, with an annual rental income of $10,800, for approximately 3,952 square feet of residential emergency shelter space located at 1391 Shell Avenue, Martinez, under the terms and conditions set forth in the revenue lease. (WLP785) AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute the revenue lease on behalf of the County and to exercise any options to extend the lease. FISCAL IMPACT: The County will receive revenue of $10,800 over the one-year term of the lease. Revenue has been budgeted in the Health Services Department Fiscal Year 2013/14 Budget. BACKGROUND: The County owns the 1391 Shell Avenue property. Shelter, Inc. of Contra Costa County has been operating the emergency center for homeless families from this site since 1995. Shelter, Inc. is a non-profit organization and receives funding for its operations from various state and charitable programs. The County no longer provides funding for Shelter, Inc. In Fiscal Year 2000/01, Shelter, Inc. was awarded $587,000 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development HOME Investment Partnerships Program, the funds of which were used to remodel the building.
