ACCEPT the resignation from the following person from the Appointee 5 Seat of the County Service Area P-5
Citizens Advisory Committee effective immediately: John Jones Alamo, CA 94507; MOVE the
following person from the 1st Alternate Seat to the Appointee 7 Seat of the County Service Area P-5 Citizens
Advisory Committee for a term with an expiration date of December 31, 2014: Robert Besse
Alamo, CA 94507; DECLARE a vacancy in the Appointee 5 Seat and the 1st Alternate Seat of the County Service
Area P-5 Citizens Advisory Committee effective immediately; and DIRECT the Clerk of the Board to post the
vacancies, as recommended by Supervisor Andersen.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
BACKGROUND:
Established on April 18, 1972, by Resolution Number 72/257, the purpose of the County Service Area P-5 Citizen
Advisory Committee is to act as a liaison between the citizens of the P-5 Police District and the Office of the Sheriff
of Contra Costa County by: Advising the Board of Supervisors and the Office of the Sheriff of the community's
needs and desires regarding police

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
protection; Promoting public safety in the areas of home safety, traffic safety, vacation security and crime prevention
through the neighborhood watch program; and maintaining oversight of expenditures of the public funds accruing in
the P-5 Police District. Supervisor Andersen is pleased with Mr. Besse's involvement as a 1st Alternate and would
like to move him to the Appointee 7 Seat so that he may contribute as a regular member.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
No appointment can be made to the District 5 Seat, and the District 7 Seat will remain vacant.
