BACKGROUND: The Contra Costa County Merit Board consists of five (5) residents of Contra Costa County who are neither County or District employees nor employees of any organization representing County or District employees. Merit Board members shall be appointed by the Board of Supervisors. When it is given such jurisdiction by the Board of Supervisors, it may decide discrimination complaints and other matters. • It shall hear and make recommended determinations on other matters, when it is given jurisdiction of such matters by the Board of Supervisors. • The Merit Board as a whole shall monitor the operation of the County Personnel Management System including the Merit System and report its recommendations from time to time to the Board of Supervisors. Supervisor Andersen advertised the expired seat, received applications, met with applicants, and has determined that she would like Mr. Robertson to continue to represent District II on the Contra Costa County Merit Board for another term. Due to redistricting, Mr. Robertson now resides in District 3. The District 3 Supervisor has agreed to this out-of-district appointment. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The District II Seat will be vacant. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
