APPROVE a lease with Towncentre Office, L.P., for a two-year term, commencing August 19, 2013 and ending August 18, 2015, for approximately 570 square feet of office space located at 1120 Second Street, Brentwood, at a rent of $2,385 per month, for occupancy by the Department of Conservation and Development, under the terms and conditions set forth in the lease. (WLP815) 2. AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute the lease on behalf of the County, and to exercise any options to extend the lease. FISCAL IMPACT: This lease will obligate the Department of Conservation and Development to pay rent of approximately $58,275 over the two-year term of the lease. BACKGROUND: Currently, the Department of Conservation and Development (DCD) occupies office space at 1191 Central Avenue, Suite C, Brentwood. Bueren, Public Works Director/Chief Engineer Date:September 17, 2013 Contra Costa County Subject:1120 Second Street, Brentwood – Lease for the Department of Conservation and Development BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) and wishes to downsize to a smaller office space. The office space at 1120 Second Street, Brentwood, is smaller in size than the current space, and will meet DCD’s present office requirements. DCD has requested that the County approve a lease for the new office space. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If the lease is not approved, the Department of Conservation and Development will either have to renew their existing lease to remain in their current location, or find other office space in the East County area. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
