HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09102013 - C.06 (2)RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Resolution No. 2013/365 regarding the 2013 Contra Costa County Combined Charities Campaign. FISCAL IMPACT: None. BACKGROUND: Contra Costa County employees have a long history of generously supporting the annual Combined Charities Campaign. Even though the economy is improving, many of our neighbors, friends, and extended family continue to need assistance from nonprofit charities. It is important that we do not stop now in helping out however much we can. Our goal is to surpass the approximately $162,075 in donations pledged in 2012 and increase the number of first-time donors. Every dollar makes a difference; small donations from many people add up quickly. In the spirit of "Your Change Can Make a Change," we encourage all Contra Costa County employees to respond to the Campaign's request for a donation. Once again, we have the opportunity to make contributions through a monthly payroll deduction to support our favorite charities. ATTESTED: September 17, 2013 David Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: Stacey M. Boyd, Deputy cc: C. 6 To:Board of Supervisors From:Russell Watts, Treasurer-Tax Collector Date:September 17, 2013 Contra Costa County Subject:The 2013 Contra Costa County Combined Charities Campaign BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) up a donation as a payroll deduction is easy, and gives charities the security of knowing the amount of money they can plan on receiving in 2014. The campaign will run through the usual month of October. However, this year employees will be able to make their pledge on the internet using the new Online Pledge found at http://combinedcharities.contra-costa.org/. If internet access is not available or an employee is averse to doing business online, the department coordinator can provide the traditional hard copies of the Resource Guide and Pledge form. We are grateful to all those who will participate in the Campaign. We encourage all to become involved. Every penny counts! Small donations from many people can add up to make a big difference!
