Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Unpaid
Student Training Agreement #22–964-2 with San Jose State University, an educational institution, to provide
supervised field instruction at County’s Public Health Division for Contractor’s Occupational Therapy students for
the period from September 1, 2013 through August 31, 2016.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None
BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this agreement is to provide Contractor’s students with the opportunity to integrate academic
knowledge with applied skills at progressively higher levels of performance and responsibility. Supervised fieldwork
experience for students is considered to be an integral part of both educational and professional preparation. The
Health Services Department can provide the requisite field education, while at the same time, benefitting from the
students’ services to patients.
On September 14, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #22-964-1 with San Jose State University, for

Approval of Unpaid Student Training Agreement #22–964-2 will allow San Jose State University students to receive
supervised fieldwork instruction experience, in County’s Public Health Division, through August 31, 2016.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, the students will not receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience at County’s
Public Health Division.
