Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
Amendment Agreement #26-429-21 with Jackson & Coker Locum Tenens, LLC, a limited liability company,
effective August 1, 2013, to amend Contract #26-429-20 to modify the rate schedule to reflect the intent of the
Department, with no change in the payment limit of $200,000 and no change in the original term of January 1, 2013
through December 31, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Amendment is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. The daily rate for temporary psychiatrist is being increased.
BACKGROUND:
On January 8, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-429-20 with Jackson & Coker Locum Tenens,
LLC, for the period from January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013, to provide temporary physicians for Contra
Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.
The Department has had to rely on registries for temporary psychiatric coverage at Contra Costa Regional Medical
Center

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC); however, it has been difficult to attract qualified adult and child
psychiatrists at the current rate paid under this Contract. The Department is requesting approval of Contract
Amendment Agreement #26-429-21 to modify the rate schedule and allow the Contractor to continue providing
temporary psychiatric services at CCRMC, through December 31, 2013.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this amendment is not approved, CCRMC would not be able to provide adult and child psychiatric coverage for
temporary staff absences.
