APPROVE the Second Amendment to Lease with Jordan Family Trust, to extend the Lease for two years from
September 1, 2013 to August 31, 2015, for approximately 3,600 square feet of warehouse space located at 887 Howe
Road, Martinez, for continued occupancy by the Health Services Department, under the terms and conditions set
forth in the Lease. (WLP821)
AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute the Second Amendment to Lease on behalf of the
County and to exercise any options to extend the Lease.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Second Amendment to Lease will obligate the County to pay rent with no increase in the first year and a total
rent of $79,368 over the two-year term of the Lease. The amount was anticipated and budgeted in the Health Services
Department’s approved FY 2013/14 budget. (77.9% Hospital Enterprise Fund; 9.9% General Fund; 12.2% State
Grant)

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
this space for use by the Health Services Department since September 2000. The Health Services Department
requires this warehouse space for use by the Contra Costa Regional Health Center, Public Health, BioMed
Equipment Unit, and Health Centers Divisions because they do not have adequate storage space at their other
locations. As a condition of the original lease, the property owner requires the County to indemnify them.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to approve the Second Amendment to Lease may result in having to find new space of the Health Services
Department’s various programs, which may result in higher costs to the County.
