HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09102013 - C.41RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21357 to add eight (8) Social Caseworker Assistant (XDVB) (represented) positions at salary level 255 1434 ($4298 - $5224) in the Children and Families Services Bureau of the Employment and Human Services Department FISCAL IMPACT: Upon approval of these positions will increase Annual Salary by $773,367. This will also result in additional retirement cost by $277,098. These positions will be funded Federal 45%, State 45%, County10% BACKGROUND: Social Casework Assistants perform services such as visitation supervision, parent training, home visits, and transportation; all of which are mandated services for Child Welfare to provide in order to meet the "reasonable efforts" findings in court hearings. These services are necessary to ensure the agency meets our legal obligation to assist families in meeting the needs of their children to return home or to remain home safely. When the Social Casework Specialists have high caseloads the department is at risk on not providing mandated services. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: These services are essential to the child’s ability to receive services in a timely manner; their ability to return home quickly, and can result in the child being placed in and out of home care due to lack of "reasonable services" available to families.
