HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08132013 - C.59RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #72-054 with Process Improvement Institute, Inc., a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $876,600, to provide consultation and technical assistance with regard to a Safety Evaluation Report of the Chevron Richmond Refinery, for the period from August 1, 2013 through July 31, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: County will be reimbursed by Chevron for costs. BACKGROUND: Under Contract #72-054 the Contractor will provide consultation and technical assistance with regard to a Safety Evaluation Report of the Chevron Richmond Refinery including working with the County’s Oversight Committee, Refinery Management and the Union Safety Committee. Contractor will collect, organize, analyze, and review the data to evaluate the current state of safety; provide a draft report for public comment; submit the final report to Hazardous Materials Director; conduct a presentation of final report at City and County meetings; and review and comment on Refinery’s action plan, through July 31, 2015. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this Contract is not approved, the Contractor would not be able to provide a Safety Evaluation Report regarding the Chevron Richmond Refinery.
