APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, and the Health Services Director, or designee to
execute an interdepartmental services agreement between the Sheriff's Office and Emergency Medical Services
(EMS) Agency, for the Agency to pay the County an amount not to exceed $250,000 per year for the provision of
police dispatching services effective July 1, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No net County cost. $250,000 yearly revenue.
BACKGROUND:
The Office of the Sheriff will provide reliable communication with Contra Costa Health Services Health Officer and
Emergency Medical Services Director regarding local or county-wide emergencies involving HazMat, infection
control, public health, and emergency medical services. The Office of the Sheriff will support resource requests
within and outside the county during multi-casualty events in coordination with Contra Costa Emergency Medical
Services such as ambulance strike teams.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to approve this contract will result in the inability of the Sheriff's Office to provide the Contra Costa Health
Services and Emergency Medical Services needed support resulting in a safety concern for the community, reduced
revenue for the Office of the Sheriff and the County General Fund.
