HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08132013 - C.34RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute on behalf of the County Standard (Amendment) Agreement #29-532-1 with the California Department of Health Care Services (formerly State of California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs, Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration), effective June 29, 2013, with no change in the original amount of $600,000 payable to County, to allow technical adjustments to the Agreement due to the result of a government reorganization by the State and no change in the original term of April 1, 2012 through September 28, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: None. There is no change in the funding payable to County in an amount not to exceed $600,000 for the Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG) Project, through September 28, 2015. No County match required. Through an established partnership with local law enforcement and elected officials in each of those communities, the County Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) prevention services engaged an existing system of care providers and residents through a Countywide Strategic Prevention Framework to develop a logic model that could assist in identifying priorities and build capacity based on specific cultural and AOD needs. The primary goal of the California’s Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant will be to reduce underage and excessive drinking among youth and young adults’ ages 12 to 25 years old, in the cities of Antioch and Walnut Creek, by implementing the County’s Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant Project. Approval of this Amendment Agreement #29-532-1 will allow the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs (ADP), in collaboration with the County, to expressly consent to assign and transfer all rights and interests in the Grant SPF SIG 12-06 to the California Department of Health Care Services, effective as of July 1 2013, and allow continuous funding for the Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG) Project, through September 28, 2015. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this amendment is not approved, the California Department of Health Care Services will not assume all rights, duties, obligation, responsibilities and liabilities of any type that accrue under Grant SPG SIG 12-06.
